Church plea for return of stolen goods

Members of Newbold Baptist Church are appealing to the public to be on the look out for stolen goods after a break in at the church on Sunday night (6 July).

Specialist musical equipment, bass guitars and amplifiers as well as brand new clothes and shoes still in boxes were among the things taken from the church building on Milnrow Road on Sunday night/early hours of Monday morning.

A spokesman for the church said: "These thieves have taken not only from the church, but also the local community – maybe their own community. We urge anyone who knows of where the items are or has been offered any of these items to call the police."

The church is appealing to anyone who has seen any of these items or offered any of them for resale. The musical equipment is quite specialised and would look unusual on general sale.

Other items include several pairs of Rockport boots still in their unmarked boxes, children’s wear and sports wear with red tags on.

Kitchen items were also taken including a tea urn, a microwave and knives and forks.

The spokesperson continued: “We are disappointed that these things are to be taken because lots of people from Newbold and the surrounding area benefit from the use of the building and the facilities during the week. We certainly won’t be stopped from being a community venue and it will be business as usual from tomorrow.”

The church is involved with community activities throughout the week and is determined that the break in will not stop the busy schedule. Offers of a tea urn would be gratefully received.
